LOS ANGELES, May 16 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles meteorologist's skimpy outfit prompted viewer complaints and a sweater offered by her news anchor.

Liberte Chan arrived for work at KTLA-TV Saturday morning, discovered her clothes clashed with the studio "green screen" and the colors of the newscast, and changed into a glamorous, bare-shouldered black tank dress more appropriate for club-hopping.

"Even if it's early in the AM, can't beat a beaded black dress," she said on Twitter.

Viewers objected, with a barrage of emails critical of her attire, and during the weather report, the disembodied hand of anchor Chris Burrous could be seen, handing Chan a grey cardigan sweater.

When Chan asked, "You want me to put this on. Why? Because it's cold?"

Burrous responded, "We're getting a lot of emails."

Chan finished her segment wearing the sweater.

Burrous later said his offer of the sweater was meant in good humor, and there were no orders to cover up the meteorologist. The emails were real, though, as were responses to Chan's on-air apology and a promise not to wear the dress again. One viewer wrote: "Men are never asked this question. Wear whatever you want."
