Florida man shares video after being locked inside closed gym

CLEARWATER, Fla., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A Florida man who found himself locked inside an LA Fitness gym after a shvitz in the sauna chronicled his predicament on social media.

Nicholas Clayton of Clearwater posted a video to Facebook and YouTube explaining how he had been in the sauna with his headphones in when the LA Fitness gym closed at 5 p.m.

"What LA Fitness closes at 5 o'clock?" he asks in the video.

Clayton said in a Facebook comment his initial instinct was to call his mother for advice, but her persistent laughter led him to try a different tactic: calling another LA Fitness location.

"I've survived. Barely. I started by calling my Mom. She couldn't stop laughing, so I ended that phone call. Thankfully, another LA Fitness was still open. Again, more chuckling. Told them I really didn't want the police to ended up coming up and questioning me if there was an alarm. They had to call the management of the particular location and finally told me it would be fine to exit. Truly...like something out of a damn movie. Unreal."

Clayton said he was able to walk out through the front door of the gym after being assured by workers at the other location that he would not set off the burglar alarm.

"No one checks the facility prior to closing up?? I'm baffled! Aside from that...what gym closes at 5PM on a Saturday?!?!" he wrote in the description of his video on YouTube.
