JEDBURGH, Scotland, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- A "passport control center" on the border of Scotland and England was the work of pranksters "united in having a laugh" ahead of Scotland's independence vote.

Motorists using the border crossing near Jedburgh, Scotland, were surprised this week to see a "passport control center" barrier had been erected with a sign reading it would open under the authority of the "Scottish Border Agency" Sept. 19, the day after Scotland's scheduled vote on independence from Britain.

Jon Parker Lee, a Manchester, England, photographer, said he organized the stunt along with a group of Scottish and English accomplices.

"We're not making a point for either side," Lee told the Daily Mail. "We've staged this together as a group of Scotland and English. We're simply united in having a laugh."
