Hollywood blockbusters recreated entirely with stock footage

CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- When most people think of stock footage, they think of educational films, documentaries and commercials.

But Canadian high definition stock footage producer and aggregator Dissolve is trying to raise expectations for stock footage, recreating 14 classic films in less than three minutes using only footage from its archives.

Posted to Vimeo, Scenes You've Seen: Blockbuster movies recreated with stock footage sets itself up as sort of an obvious trivia piece, offering clues such as "acrobatic hackers spoil kewl VR simulation" for The Matrix or "epic boat fail" for Titanic before recreating classic moments with stock footage.

For those unable to solve clues in Scenes You've Seen, the films recreated, in order, are: Titanic, The Shining, The Lion King, Top Gun, Psycho, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, March of the Penguins, Apocalypse Now, The Matrix, Forrest Gump, Alice in Wonderland, The Hunger Games, Babe and Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Dissolve has used creative editing to show off its HD inventory in the past, collaborating with Dave Eggers' online publication, Timothy McSweeney's Internet Tendency, to create the short film This is a Generic Brand Video, a satirical take on modern business commercials.
