Although he also played with the New Jersey Nets and Chicago Bulls during the course of his career, Scalabrine came back to Boston after he finished playing in 2012 and called a few games for the Celtics in 2012-13. He spent last year coaching for the Golden State Warriors, but has apparently decided to "come home" to the Hub.
"I looked at other teams, but I wasn't going to leave Oakland for anywhere except Boston...or maybe Chicago...or maybe Brooklyn...or possibly Los Angeles to go back with Doc. The more time passed, the more it felt right. This is what makes me happy," Scalabrine wrote in the letter.
"In Boston, nothing is given. Remember in the movie The Departed when Francis Costello said, 'No one gives it to you. You have to take it.' That was a great scene and a great Boston movie. I'm ready to accept the Scallenge. Boston, I'm coming home."
