No shirt, no shoes, no stealing: Maryland man in shorts and socks arrested for taking candy

PRINCE FREDERICK , Md., June 9 (UPI) -- A Maryland man was arrested for allegedly attempting to swipe candy from a Subway sandwich shop while wearing only a pair of shorts and white socks.

According to the Calvert County Sheriff's Office, James Wirick appeared intoxicated when an officer responded to the Prince Frederick Subway because of a suspicious subject report.

The deputy observed Wirick putting candy in his pocket and arrested him for theft under $100 when he discovered that the 50-year-old had not paid for the candy.

Wirick was also charged with disorderly conduct.

After being taken to the county detention center, Wirick was hit with a destruction of property charge after he allegedly tore a telephone out of the wall.
