Woman will claim it was self-defense when she tore a former boyfriend's scrotum

MUNCIE , Del., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- A woman accused of tearing an ex-boyfriend’s scrotum during a 2012 incident will claim that it was self-defense when she begins to stand trial on March 12 in Delaware Circuit Court 1.

Reber's attorney, Zaki Ali, filed a "belated notice of self-defense” on Friday and the Delaware County chief trial deputy prosecutor indicated he would not contest the filing.

Christina Lorina Reber is charged with aggravated battery after she allegedly hit the man in the head several times and "grabbed his scrotum and began squeezing as hard as she could."

After the incident, the man was treated at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital for what authorities called a "long tear on his scrotum."

If she is convicted of the Class B felony, the 45-year-old woman could be sentenced to a 10-year prison term.

A civil lawsuit filed by the alleged victim resulted in an agreement that Reber would "deposit (at the county clerk's office) any income or other proceeds" that she might obtain from doing a proposed television interview the Muncie Star Press reported.
