Police: Man smoked pot in drive-through

ELGIN, Ill., June 15 (UPI) -- Police in Illinois said a man was arrested when an officer in a McDonald's drive-through lane smelled marijuana coming from the car in front of them.

Elgin police said the officer was in the drive-through lane at about 12:30 a.m. Monday and smelled marijuana smoke coming from the vehicle in front of him, the Elgin Courier-News reported Tuesday.

The officer said he saw Jose Barrera, 21, blowing smoke out of his car window.

The police officer said he pulled the vehicle over for an alleged traffic violation and discovered a Tupperware container filled with marijuana inside the car.

Barrera was charged with possession of marijuana and was released on $120 bond. He is due in court July 22 for a hearing.
