June 13 (UPI) -- The mighty Kratos teaches his son how to become a warrior in the new trailer for Sony's upcoming Playstation 4 exclusive, God of War.

The clip, released Monday during Sony's annual E3 press conference, features the now older and bearded Spartan warrior journeying with his son as they fight to survive against a number of mythological enemies including a towering sea creature.

The trailer features gameplay as Kratos is seen dismembering and ripping apart his foes using a magically-enhanced battle axe that returns to him after being thrown. Kratos's son can also be spotted joining in on the battle to assist his father with a bow and arrow.

"On our journey we will be attacked by all manner of creature," Kratos is heard saying to his son. "The road ahead is long and unforgiving. No place for a boy, you must be a warrior."

"Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest," reads the synopsis.
