Aug. 23 (UPI) -- HBO has announced that Season 3 of its dark dramedy, Succession, will premiere this fall, about two years after its second season wrapped.

The show's Twitter feed posted a photo Monday of the show's star Brian Cox as his character Logan Roy sitting in an office chair, appearing to be deep in thought.

The image was simply captioned, "October." No more particular launch date for the new episodes was given.

The show follows the backstabbing members of the wealthy and powerful -- but miserable -- Roy family of media moguls.

Season 2 concluded in October 2019.

Returning for the third season are Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen and J. Smith-Cameron.

New additions to the ensemble include Adrien Brody, Alexander SkarsgÄrd, Sanaa Lathan, Linda Emond, Jihae Kim, Hope Davis, Dasha Nekrasova and Ella Rumpf.
