Edmund is the late husband of Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and the father of the eight Bridgerton children. The character is expected to appear in flashbacks.

Netflix shared the news Friday on Twitter, describing Edmund as "the loving and devoted husband of Violet Bridgerton and an endlessly patient and kind father who takes special pride in guiding his eldest son Anthony through life."

Evans is known for playing Frank Frink on The Man in the High Castle and Harry Greenwood in the Charmed reboot.

Bridgerton is based on the Julia Quinn book series. Season 1 is based on Quinn's novel The Duke and I, which centered on the romance between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Bassett, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), while Season 2 will be based on Quinn's book The Viscount Who Loved Me and follow Anthony Bridgerton's (Jonathan Bailey) search for a wife.

Bridgerton premiered on Netflix in December. Netflix renewed the series for Seasons 3 and 4 in April.

Netflix is also developing a spinoff series about Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel).
