'Schitt's Creek,' 'Crown,' 'Chicago 7' win top SAG Awards

April 4 (UPI) -- The casts of Schitt's Creek, The Crown and The Trial of the Chicago 7 were honored on the pre-recorded Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony that aired on TNT and TBS Sunday night.

The stars of Schitt's Creek were named Outstanding Ensemble in a TV Comedy and cast member Catherine O'Hara earned an additional statuette for Outstanding Actress in a TV Comedy.

Jason Sudeikis won for Outstanding Actor in a TV Comedy for Ted Lasso.

The Outstanding Ensemble in a TV Drama title went to The Crown team and cast member Gillian Anderson also won for Outstanding Actress in a TV Drama.

Jason Bateman won the prize for Outstanding Actor in a TV Drama for Ozark.

The actors from The Trial of the Chicago 7 won for Outstanding Ensemble in a Film, while Viola Davis and the late Chadwick Boseman won Outstanding Actress and Actor in a Film for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

Daniel Kaluuya was named Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Film for Judas and the Black Messiah and Yuh-Jung Youn was voted Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Film for Minari.

Anya Taylor-Joy earned the honor for Outstanding Actress in a TV Movie or Limited Series for The Queen's Gambit and Mark Ruffalo won for Outstanding Actor in a TV Movie or Limited Series for I Know This Much is True.

The Crown, Ozark, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and The Queen's Gambit are all streaming on Netflix.

The SAG Awards show didn't have a host and only ran one hour this year.

The abbreviated format was adopted in an effort to keep nominees and presenters safe at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

During the ceremony's pre-show, Wonder Woman 1984 and The Mandalorian picked up the prizes for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Movie and in a TV Series respectively.
