June 27 (UPI) -- How I Met Your Mother and Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Alyson Hannigan has signed on as a recurring guest star for Season 2 of the Mennonite crime drama Pure.

The actress will begin filming in July her role of Esther Dunkel, "a lapsed Mennonite who is nobody's fool and has been helping her lawyer-boyfriend funnel a fortune in cartel cash through a local bank," WGN America said in a news release Wednesday.
