Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Melissa Joan Hart says budget constraints forced to her to get creative in directing and producing her remake of the 1980 horror flick The Watcher in the Woods.

The 41-year-old Clarissa Explains It All, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Melissa & Joey actress unveiled footage from the TV movie at New York Comic Con, then talked with fans about how she helmed the ghost story, revealing one of the scenes was filmed on her iPhone.

"The footage is still on my phone," she announced, explaining how she used the device to capture a scene where a girl falls in a pond. "We had to shoot some stuff underwater and the pond was actually too murky to really film, so we took a quarter of a swimming pool and we covered it with black wrap and the director of photography got in with my cell phone in a waterproof case and went underwater and the whole thing was shot on my phone."

"You can buy the case on Amazon for $119," Hart's mother Paula -- who is also her producing partner -- chimed in. "Which is exactly what we did. Wait until you see. It looks incredible!"

The Watcher in the Woods is to debut on Lifetime Saturday night.
