Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Roman Reigns' feud with Braun Strowman was re-ignited Monday on Raw as the two competitors battled inside a steel cage before their confrontation at TLC.

The main event of Raw had a lot on the line as Reigns was fighting to prevent Strowman from participating in his Tables, Ladders and Chairs match at TLC against Intercontinental Champion The Miz and the tag team of Sheamus and Cesaro alongside his Shield partners, Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

Strowman meanwhile if he could defeat Reigns, would then afford his TLC team an extra partner following remarks last week from Ambrose that the Shield could take on as many as five opponents and still win.

The ensuing match featured interference from Sheamus and Cesaro and then later The Shield despite Raw general manager Kurt Angle banning both teams from ringside. After Reigns was cut off from escaping the steel cage and securing a victory, The Big Dog nailed Strowman with three Superman Punches and set up for a Spear before he was caught off guard by the music of Kane who hasn't been seen in the WWE for close to a year.

As the arena was engulfed in a red light, Reigns continued to hit Strowman with a Spear, but was confronted by Kane who arose underneath the ring. Kane then Choke Slammed Reigns much to the delight of The Miz who was on commentary.

Kane and Strowman then led an intense beatdown on Reigns that included another Choke Slam, a Tombstone and two Running Powerslams from The Monster Among Men before he pinned Reigns for the victory. The Miz then proudly announced that Kane would be joining his team as the fifth member against The Shield at TLC on Oct. 22.

Potentially, Kane has aligned himself with The Miz and Strowman after Reigns defeated his brother The Undertaker at WrestleMania which has seemingly led to The Deadman's retirement.

Before the Steel Cage match, Shield members Rollins and Ambrose defended their Raw Tag Team titles against Sheamus and Cesaro in a highly-competitive match that ended with Ambrose delivering Dirty Deeds to Cesaro for the three count.

Other moments from Raw included The Shield kicking off the show by arriving together in their swat uniforms through the crowd for the first time in three years; Jason Jordan, Titus O'Neil and Apollo Crews defeating Elias, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson; Cedric Alexander defeating Gentleman Jack Gallagher; Strowman appearing on Miz TV; Sasha Banks defeating Alicia Fox; Enzo Amore leading an attack against Cruiserweight Champion Kalisto; Mickie James and Bayley defeating Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss and Emma; and Finn Balor addressing Bray Wyatt a week after Wyatt unleashed the spirit of his mentor Sister Abigail.
