July 7 (UPI) -- ABC has confirmed soap opera star Steve Burton is heading back to General Hospital after ending his four-year run on The Young and the Restless. "The rumors are true. @1SteveBurton #GH," the General Hospital Twitter account said.
The message accompanied a brief video featuring a photo of Burton in his character Jason Morgan's signature black T-shirt and the words: "Steve Burton is returning to GH. Stay tuned."
But SoapOperaDigest.com said Burton isn't publicly confirming whether he will reprise his role of Jason, which has been played by Billy Miller since 2014.
Burton played Jason from 1991 to 2012.
"I can't say anything about the story," the 47-year-old Burton said. "There's going to be a lot of surprises. So, stay tuned."
The actor said he "can't wait" to be back on GH.
"It's been my home for so long. It's like my family there. We're just really looking forward to reuniting," he said.
