The CW orders 'Dynasty' reboot to series

May 11 (UPI) -- The CW's reboot of '80s soap opera Dynasty, has received a series order.

According to Deadline, this new modern take on Dynasty will feature a more diverse cast. It is being developed by Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, along with writer-producer Sallie Patrick (Revenge).

Original Dynasty creators Esther and Richard Shapiro are serving as executive producers.

Like the original ABC series, Dynasty will feature two feuding wealthy families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they fight for control of their fortunes and families.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll alum Elizabeth Gillies is set to star as the daughter of Fallon Carrington (Grant Snow), who is at odds with her Hispanic stepmother played by Nathalie Kelley of Vampire Diaries fame.

The cast will also include James Mackay (The Leftovers), Alan Dale (The O.C.), Sam Adegoke (Murder in the First), Robert Christopher Riley (Hit the Floor), and Rafael de la Fuente (Empire).
