June 4 (UPI) -- Erinn Hayes confirmed this weekend she will not return to the CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait for Season 2.

"True, I've been let go from the show. Very sad, I had a great experience season 1. Thank you for all the support from our wonderful fans," Hayes tweeted Saturday.

The news came after Leah Remini announced she is joining the show full-time following a guest appearance in the Season 1 finale.

The comedy stars Kevin James as married father and former Long Island cop Kevin Gable, who is trying to adjust to retirement. Hayes played his wife Donna and Remini was recently introduced as his former partner Vanessa.

TVLine said the show will be taken in a different, creative direction next season and it is unknown at this point how Donna's absence will be explained.

James and Remini played husband and wife on King of Queens 1998-2007.
