NEW YORK, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Orange is the New Black star Lea DeLaria has called it quits with her fiancée.

The 58-year-old actress announced days after her scheduled wedding date that she and longtime love Chelsea Fairless have ended their engagement.

DeLaria and Fairless had shared a Photoshopped image of themselves with Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor to announce their engagement in February 2015. The actress poked fun at the photo in a post this week on Instagram.

"Apparently this was an eerily prophetic choice of engagement photo as our relationship has since gone the way of David and Liza, with one small exception: our split is amicable," she wrote. "Please exclude us from the tragic and basic celebrity breakup narrative."

"We were happy together for four years and will remain in each other's lives. In fact, we look forward to finding new ways to torture each other. We would like to thank our incredible friends and fmilies for their love and support," the star added.

DeLaria had said on The View in August 2015 that she and Fairless were set to wed in 2017 on Jan. 8, her late parents' wedding anniversary. She previously told Page Six that friend and comedian Sandra Bernhard would officiate the wedding.

"It's going to be in New York, but we're still trying to find the spot!" she said in June 2015. "We're going to do a night wedding and we're going to go right to the dancing."

DeLaria is known for playing Big Boo on Orange is the New Black. The Netflix series co-stars Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon, and was renewed for a fifth, sixth and seventh season in February 2016.
