Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken perform duet for first time in 13 years on 'The View'

NEW YORK, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- American Idol alums and former competitors Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken performed a special duet together Thursday on The View for the first time in 13 years.

The pair came together on the daytime talkshow for a holiday themed performance of "This Christmas" while wearing matching red sweaters.

Afterwards, Studddard and Aiken shared that they have remained close to this day after facing off against one another during the finale of American Idol Season 2 in 2003. Studdard ended up winning the competition and the recording contract prize.

"He was one of the first people I actually met during Hollywood week and we've been friends ever since," Studdard said of meeting Aiken on Idol.

"We FaceTime once every week or so still," added Aiken.
