Sarah Hyland to host one-off special 'Lip Sync Battle Shorties'

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland has signed on to host the one-hour special, Lip Sync Battle Shorties on Nickelodeon.

The spinoff of Spike's Lip Sync Battle is scheduled to premiere on Dec. 11. It will feature everyday kids lip syncing their favorite songs and celebrating their favorite artists. 

The one-off special will also air on Spike on Dec. 14.

  "After having such an awesome experience competing on Lip Sync Battle, I jumped at the chance to host Shorties," said Hyland in a statement. "What could be more fun and exciting to see than the next generation of Lip Sync superstars showing off their sensational skills?"

"The happy surprise of Lip Sync Battle has been the reaction from kids and how many of them are watching the series with their families," added producer Casey Patterson. "Lip Sync Battle Shorties is a great opportunity for us to showcase kids' love of music, comedy and variety.  And what better host than the fun and hilarious Sarah Hyland, who recently gave it her all on the Lip Sync Battle stage. Our Shorties are involved in every aspect of their performances from song selection to choreography and staging. We're having a blast!"

Hyland will be seen in the upcoming, third season of the adult version of Lip Sync Battle.
