LOS ANGELES, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Harry Treadaway is reportedly headed for Mr. Mercedes.

The 32-year-old English actor is in talks to replace late star Anton Yelchin in Audience Network's series adaptation of the Stephen King novel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Brendan Gleeson will star as Det. Bill Hodges, a retired cop who pursues the Mercedes Killer. Treadaway would play Brady Hartsfield, an "ice cream truck driver and IT worker" who is secretly the "deranged" killer.

Mr. Mercedes was given a series order in May with Yelchin attached, but the Star Trek actor died at age 27 the next month. Sonar Entertainment had initially announced the project in January 2015.

"This is an amazing opportunity to adapt a script from material penned by one of the world's most acclaimed and accomplished authors. Mr. Mercedes is great story that will translate beautifully to the screen if I don't mess up," showrunner David E. Kelly said at the time.

Treadaway is best known for playing Victor Frankenstein on Penny Dreadful, which came to a close in June after three seasons on Showtime. Mr. Mercedes is slated to premiere in 2018.
