TV Land orders 'First Wives Club' pilot; inks deal with writer-producer Darren Star

NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- TV Land says it is has ordered a pilot based on the classic 1996 comedy film The First Wives Club starring Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The show is being written by New Girl scribe Rebecca Addelman and executive produced by Jenny Bicks, who worked on Sex and the City. No casting has been announced yet.

The cable-television network also said it has inked a deal with Darren Star -- the creator, executive producer and writer of its hit dramedy Younger -- to develop another project for TV Land. Star has also helmed the popular series Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place and Sex and the City.

The sitcom Teachers was renewed for a 20-episode, second season and an untitled pilot about reality TV personality Kyle Richards is in the works.

"Looking ahead, we're developing shows that are funny but also embrace real dramatic moments," Keith Cox, TV Land's executive vice president of development and original programming, said Thursday. "We're fortunate to be working with such amazing collaborators as we continue to reinvent the network."
