'Breaking Bad' wins Emmy Award for Best Drama Series

The show wrapped late last September after five seasons.

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Breaking Bad won the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series in Los Angeles Monday night.

Its stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn also scored the prizes for Best Actor, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress in a Drama. The show wrapped late last September after five seasons.

"Holy cow! Fastest Emmys ever! This thing flew!" series creator Vince Gilligan declared as he collected the evening's top honor. "Thank you so much for this wonderful farewell to our show. You have been very kind to us, indeed."

Breaking Bad also earned the accolade for Best Writing for a Drama Series.

Julianna Margulies took home the Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her work in The Good Wife, while True Detective won the award for Best Directing for a Drama Series.
