Little Big Town joins Blake Shelton's team on 'The Voice'

The country group plans to release their new album, "Painkiller," later this year.

LOS ANGELES, July 17 (UPI) -- Little Big Town has joined Blake Shelton's team on The Voice.

The country group will act as advisors to Team Blake Shelton on season seven. Stevie Nicks will mentor Team Adam Levine, and new coach Gwen Stefani has recruited husband Gavin Rossdale to fill the role on her team. Fellow first-time coach Pharrell Williams has not announced his advisor.

Little Big Town formed in 1998, and hail from Homewood, Ala. The group is comprised of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Philip Sweet, with all four members on vocals and Westbrook and Sweet on guitar. The band plans to release their sixth studio album, Painkiller, later this year.

Season seven of The Voice premieres September 22 on NBC. Shelton has coached three contestants to victory thus far; Team Adam Levine has won twice and Team Usher once.
