LOS ANGELES, April 19 (UPI) -- Janelle Arthur, a 23-year-old Tennessee native, was eliminated from the singing competition series "American Idol" in Los Angeles.

Arthur sang "You Keep Me Hanging On" in an effort to persuade Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey to use their once-a-season-save-option to keep her on the show, but the judges didn't agree unanimously and she was sent packing Thursday night.
