Sundance to air reruns of AMC's 'Breaking Bad'

NEW YORK, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Sundance Channel said Monday it has acquired the rights for the off-network premiere of the AMC New Mexico-set drama series "Breaking Bad."

Sundance said it plans to air the first four seasons of the show, starting March 4. Two episodes will run back-to-back Monday nights, the network said.

The second half of the fifth and final season of the series is to wrap up this summer on AMC.

"'Breaking Bad' has become a benchmark for storytelling at its finest and we are proud to air this series as we embark on our own scripted programming with the upcoming debut of 'Rectify,' which is produced by the same incredible team behind 'Breaking Bad,'" Sarah Barnett, Sundance Channel's general manager and executive vice president, said in a statement Monday. "We are looking forward to giving viewers another opportunity to catch up with what has been called TV's best drama."

"Breaking Bad" follows Walter White, a chemistry teacher diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live, who enters a dangerous world of drugs and crime to support his wife and teenage son who has cerebral palsy. Bryan Cranston has won numerous awards for his portrayal of White. Anna Gunn plays his wife and RJ Mitte their son.
