Pop star Prince to receive Billboard Icon Award

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Recording artist Prince is to be honored with the 2013 Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards ceremony in Las Vegas this spring, ABC announced.

"This Billboard chart-topper will also deliver an unforgettable performance during the broadcast executive produced by Don Mischer," the network said in a news release.

The prize presentation is to take place May 19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Prince, 54, is known for his hit songs "Purple Rain," "Little Red Corvette," "1999," "When Doves Cry," "Raspberry Beret," "Let's Go Crazy" and "Kiss."
