Drunk actor trashes 'Late Show' theater

NEW YORK, July 11 (UPI) -- A struggling 22-year-old actor has been arrested after he allegedly vandalized the New York theater where "Late Show with David Letterman" is taped.

The New York Post quoted authorities as saying James Whittemore was apparently drunk when he allegedly urinated on and smashed in glass doors at the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan Sunday. He also was seen on surveillance video trashing the studio lobby, the Post said.

"The inside looked like it was a drunken bar brawl," a law-enforcement source told the newspaper.

He was arrested at the scene and has been charged with burglary and criminal mischief.

TMZ said he was arraigned Monday morning and is being held on $6,000 bond. His next court date is July 15, the Web site said.

Whittemore has appeared in stage shows in Atlantic City, N.J, and Niagara Falls, N.Y.
