LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- Actor Charlie Sheen is in talks to return to television in a small-screen version of the 2003 movie "Anger Management," The Hollywood Reporter said.

The comedy project would reunite Sheen with producer Joe Roth, with whom he collaborated on the hit films "Three Musketeers," "Major League," "Young Guns" and "Young Guns II."

Roth's company is trying to hammer out a deal with Lionsgate to finance and distribute the "Anger Management" show, The Hollywood Reporter said.

If all goes well, the companies will shop the series around to U.S. networks for a possible fall 2012 premiere date, the report said.

Sheen was fired this year from his sitcom "Two and a Half Men" because of his erratic behavior and substance abuse, as well as for disparaging remarks he made about series creator Chuck Lorre. He made headlines by giving numerous rambling, but highly quotable interviews. He then starred in a touring stage show, which was panned by both critics and fans. He has been keeping a low profile in recent week since the tour ended, however.
