LOS ANGELES, June 2 (UPI) -- Actor David Hasselhoff is making a brief return to the U.S. daytime drama "The Young and the Restless" this month, CBS announced Tuesday.

He will reprise his role as Dr. William "Snapper" Foster Jr. from June 15-18 and on June 21.

The actor originally played the character from 1975-1982. Hasselhoff's daughter, Taylor Ann, is to make her daytime debut, playing a nurse in scenes with her father June 16.

"I was so honored to be asked back by the Bell family for a short visit to Genoa City, this time with my daughter, Taylor Ann," Hasselhoff said in a statement. "It was surreal and felt like I never left."

The storyline explains the 18-year absence of Hasselhoff's character by saying the doctor has been working in London and has returned home to visit his sister, Jill, played by Jess Walton, only to find himself unexpectedly caught up in a family drama, CBS said in a news release.

After his days on "Y&R," Hasselhoff starred in the hit TV series "Knight Rider," "Baywatch" and "America's Got Talent."
