Bertinelli, Malick cast in comedy pilot

NEW YORK, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- TV Land says it has signed Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick to star as best friends in its sit-com pilot "Hot in Cleveland."

Betty White will also be a recurring guest star should the network decide to make the pilot into a series.

"The new comedy revolves around three fabulous, Los Angeles women of a certain age and best friends," the network said in a news release. "Their lives are changed forever when their plane unexpectedly lands in Cleveland and they soon rediscover themselves in this new 'promised land.'"

"Hot in Cleveland" and TV Land's other announced comedy pilot, "Retired at 35," mark the network's foray into scripted comedy series.
