Lil Nas X comforts his younger self in 'Sun Goes Down' music video

May 21 (UPI) -- Lil Nas X is back with a new music video.

The 22-year-old singer and rapper released a video Friday for the song "Sun Goes Down."

The "Sun Goes Down" video opens with Lil Nas X looking back on different moments from his life. He goes back to 2017 to comfort his high school self, who is seen working at Taco Bell and attending prom.

"Wrote this song last year! This one is so special to me!" Lil Nas X wrote on Instagram.

Lil Nas X co-directed the "Sun Goes Down" video with Psycho Films. The song is produced by Take a Daytrip, Omer Fedi and Roy Lonzo.

"Sun Goes Down" is a new single from Lil Nas X's forthcoming debut studio album, Montero. The album also features the singles "Holiday" and "Montero (Call Me by Your Name."

Lil Nas X released "Montero" and its music video in March. He spoke out on Instagram after fans pointed out the similarities between the video and FKA twigs' video for "Cellophane."

Lil Nas X will perform during iHeartMedia's Can't Cancel Pride virtual benefit in June.
