LOS ANGELES, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Gwen Stefani couldn't help but gush about Blake Shelton at the 2016 Glamour Women of the Year Awards on Monday.

The 47-year-old singer had nothing but praise for the 40-year-old country star on the red carpet and also thanked Shelton in her acceptance speech.

"It's incredible to have a best friend like that guy," Stefani told Entertainment Tonight of how Shelton helped her to heal after her difficult divorce from Gavin Rossdale. "He's an amazing person."

"This year was like someone said, 'Hey, wake up!' and I was like, 'Whoa! Oh my God!' I thought I was seeing in color, but now I'm really seeing in color," she added. "I didn't know I was in a cocoon ready to bust out."

Stefani and Shelton confirmed their relationship in November 2015 after splitting from their respective spouses, Rossdale and Miranda Lambert, earlier in the year. The singer reflected on her journey since while accepting her Glamour award.

"I'm so grateful to everybody around me that helped me this year. It was a magical time," she said. "To my children, to my family, to Blake Shelton for kissing me back to life -- thank you so much."

Stefani last released the album This is What the Truth Feels Like in March, which includes the single "Used to Love You" about Rossdale. The singer admitted in the December issue of Glamour that her divorce was an "embarrassing" experience.

"People can say whatever they want to about me... and I don't get too affected. But I didn't want them to think I was a failure," she explained. "There's nothing weird about how I felt."
