NASHVILLE, July 20 (UPI) -- Miranda Lambert is taking stock of her difficult past year following the success of her new single.

The 32-year-old country star reflected on her struggles and triumphs in an Instagram post Tuesday after her new song, "Vice," reached No. 1 on iTunes a year after her divorce from Blake Shelton.

"The last year of my life has been one of heartache and healing ... Of learning to be honest ... Accepting the flaws and celebrating the smiles," Lambert wrote. "Finding peace in dark places ... having some moments alone with me. Facing fears and feelings ... All of them."

"I got to know my guitars ... became friends with a pencil and paper ... Used melodies to lead me places I had never been ... Made music with my friends. Because music is medicine," she added. "This [No. 1] means the world to me. Thank you for joining me on this journey."

Lambert and Shelton divorced in July 2015 after four years of marriage. The country star admitted the split was difficult in the January issue of Cosmopolitan but said she intended to make the best of the situation.

"I just want to live a life full of everything," she told the magazine. "It's about living in the moment and feeling every tinge of pain, then waking up the next day and going, 'All right, I'm going to ride my ponies. I'm going to have a girls' night.'"

Lambert has since started dating Anderson East, while Shelton has moved on with Gwen Stefani. The star celebrated East's 28th birthday Sunday by posting a photo of herself kissing him on Instagram.

"Happy birthday to my favorite 'Bama' boy!" she captioned the picture.

"Vice" will appear on Lambert's forthcoming sixth studio album. She last released Platinum in 2014, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and includes the singles "Automatic" and "Little Red Wagon."
