Timberlake, Macklemore & Lewis up for 6 VMAs apiece

NEW YORK, July 17 (UPI) -- Pop star Justin Timberlake and rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were nominated for six MTV Video Music Awards apiece in New York Wednesday.

Bruno Mars followed close behind with four nods, while Miley Cyrus, Jared Leto's Thirty Seconds to Mars, P!nk and Robin Thicke each earned three.

Timberlake's "Mirrors," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop," Mars' "Locked out of Heaven," Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" are each up for the top prize of Video of the Year.

The winners are to be announced Aug. 25 at a star-studded show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

No host of the ceremony has been announced yet.
