Weezer appears on Muppets tribute album

BURBANK, Calif., June 28 (UPI) -- OK Go, Weezer and The Fray have recorded tracks for the upcoming tribute CD, "Muppets: The Green Album," America's Walt Disney Records said.

Alkaline Trio, My Morning Jacket, Andrew Bird, Matt Nathanson and Amy Lee also reinterpreted some beloved Muppets songs for the album, which is to be released Aug. 23.

Among the re-made classics are "The Muppet Show Theme," "The Rainbow Connection," "Bein' Green," "Mahna Mahna," "Moving Right Along" and "Halfway Down the Stairs."

"The Muppets," the latest installment in the big-screen comedy series, is to open this Thanksgiving. It stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams and Chris Cooper. The original motion picture soundtrack for "The Muppets" will be released by Walt Disney Records Nov. 22, the label said Monday.
