BBC scraps Electric Proms music fest

LONDON, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- The BBC says it will no longer present its annual Electric Proms music festival because it is too expensive to run.

Radio 2 controller Bob Shennan said he is "disappointed" the concert series has come to an end, but emphasized he is "very proud of its fantastically rewarding run."

The event, which ran for five years, has featured performances by Elton John, Robert Plant, Neil Diamond, Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Oasis and Robbie Williams.
