Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Keanu Reeves is giving hope to fans who have waited decades for a second sequel to his 1989 time-travel comedy, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

"We're trying! There's a script out there. It's called Bill & Ted Face the Music and we're just trying to get it made. Show business is tough," the 53-year-old actor told a crowd at New York Comic Con Thursday evening.

"It's a cautionary tale," he teased. "Bill and Ted were supposed to save the world, but when we see them, they are, like, older and they haven't saved the world. Their children are grown up and the wives are kind of like, 'What is going on?' Bill and Ted are playing to nobody and they are still trying to write the song to save the world and it's just weighing on them..."

"We're trying to get it all worked out so, hopefully, one day. Hopefully, before I'm 60."

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and 1991's Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey co-starred Alex Winter and Reeves as a pair of slackers who become unlikely heroes.
