April 6 (UPI) -- Pierce Brosnan says he hasn't been cast in Deadpool 2.

The 63-year-old Irish actor denied on Tuesday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he'll play Cable in the sequel after posing for a photo in January with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman.

"Not true," Brosnan said of reports. "Nothing's come my way yet. It was completely made up."

"We were sitting waiting for a plane, the three of us, and the guys said, 'Quick! Let's get a photograph,'" he explained. "I jump in the middle and Mr. Reynolds said, 'Let's do three wise monkeys.' Put it out there and it went viral."

"I ain't lying. I don't lie," the star insisted. "It's fabrication."

Speculation began in mid-January after Reynolds shared a photo of himself with Jackman and Brosnan, who played James Bond in four films. Reynolds portrays Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, in the Marvel cinematic universe.

"Wolvie. Bond. Wade," the actor wrote Jan. 17.

Deadpool opened in theaters in February 2016, with the sequel slated for 2018. Brosnan will instead star in The King's Daughter with Kaya Scodelario and Final Score with Dave Bautista, in addition to the new AMC series The Son.

"I know what it's like to bring up sons and it can be a very arduous road," the actor, who is dad to four sons, said in the April issue of Esquire. The Son is based on the Philipp Meyer book of the same name, which follows the patriarch of a ranching and oil dynasty.
