LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Ray Liotta is in negotiations to join Warner Bros. upcoming remake of musical A Star is Born alongside stars Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. According to Empire, Liotta's potential role is still unknown.
The feature, which Warner Bros. has slated to release on Sept. 28, 2018, also acts as Cooper's directorial debut.
"For those of us lucky enough to watch him work as an actor and producer, it has been clear that Bradley would make this transition to director," said president of creative development and worldwide production for Warner Bros. Greg Silverman when announcing the project.
"We are honored that he is doing it, here, at his home -- Warner Bros.-- and with Lady Gaga as a collaborator and co-star. The world is in for a treat as these great artists craft an all-new vision of A Star is Born," he continued.
The story follows a young singer on the rise (Gaga) and her mentor and lover (Cooper) whose career is fading.
Gaga will also be composing and performing new songs for the film.
A Star is Born has been adapted into films before such as 1954 feature starring Judy Garland and James mason and a 1976 version that starred Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand.
