NEW YORK, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Kristen Stewart flashed a rare smile on the red carpet Monday in New York.

The 26-year-old actress was unusually animated as she attended the New York Film Festival premiere of Certain Women at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.

Stewart, who wore her platinum blonde hair short, stunned in a revealing, cranberry-colored suit. The Twilight star accessorized with a long, gold necklace and pointed-toe booties.

Laura Dern, Michelle Williams and Jared Harris were among the other stars to attend the event. The film also co-stars James Le Gros, Lily Gladstone and Rene Auberjonois.

Certain Women is written and directed by Night Moves helmer Kelly Reichardt. The film follows three women (Stewart, Dern and Williams) who lead intersecting lives in Montana.

"She is interested in the life that happens in the pauses," Dern said of Reichardt at a press conference earlier in the day. "It is the space where no one's watching."

"If you can look at the stuff that goes on in between, like getting to and fro, that's when things start living," Stewart added. "It's really vulnerable to not be expected to play something. All of a sudden, you start revealing things instead of displaying them."

Certain Women opens in theaters Oct. 14. Stewart is also slated for Personal Shopper with Lars Eidinger, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk with Joe Alwyn and a Lizzie Borden movie with Chloe Sevigny.
