LONDON, April 19 (UPI) -- Prince William and Prince Harry dropped in on the Star Wars: Episode VIII set on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Duke of Cambridge and his 31-year-old brother visited Pinewood Studios outside London, where production on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens sequel is underway.

Prince William and Prince Harry met with Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Mark Hamill, who play Rey, Finn and Luke Skywalker, respectively. The British royals also spent time with director Rian Johnson, Chewbacca and BB-8.

"The Duke & Prince Harry's visit @PinewoodStudios recognises the wealth of British creative talent involved in producing the @starwars films," Kensington Palace tweeted of the visit.

Kensington Palace shared several photos from the outing, including a picture of Chewbacca embracing Prince Harry. The royal siblings visited the costume department, where they inspected Ridley's head cast and enjoyed an impromptu light saber battle.

"Was [advised] to refrain from hugging #TheRoyals which Chewie ignored," Hamill wrote on Twitter.

Ridley debuted as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opened in theaters in December. The 24-year-old English actress will reprise the character in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is scheduled for release Dec. 15, 2017.

"Me and Mark have been rehearsing a lot, and it's really amazing," Ridley told MTV News at the Academy Awards in February. "It's such a good story. Seriously. Luke is so cool in this one."
