'Tyrannosaur' wins big at British Independent Film Awards

LONDON, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The low-budget drama "Tyrannosaur" has won the Best Film title at the British Independent Film Awards ceremony in London.

The movie's leading lady Olivia Colman won the award for Best Actress and writer-director Paddy Considine took home the prize for Best Debut Director at the event Sunday night.

Lynne Ramsay was honored as Best Director for "We Need to Talk About Kevin."

Michael Fassbender was named Best Actor for his work in "Shame," Vanessa Redgrave won the Best Supporting Actress statuette for her performance in "Coriolanus" and Michael Smiley earned the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his acting in "Kill List."

"Senna" was declared Best Documentary and Iran's "A Separation" was named Best Foreign Independent Film.
