'Puss' is U.S. box office cat's meow

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- The animated "Puss In Boots" stomped the competition this weekend, bringing in $34 million for the No. 1 U.S. spot.

"Paranormal Activity 3" was No. 2 with $18.53 million.

All studio estimates of gross U.S. box office receipts are via rentrak.com.

"In Time" was No. 2 with $12 million; "Footloose" fourth with $5.4 million; "Rum Diary" fifth with more than $5.01 million;"Real Steel" sixth with more than $4.7 million; "The Three Musketeers" seventh with $3.5 million; "The Ides Of March" eighth with $2.7 million; and "Moneyball" ninth with $2.4 million.

"Courageous" was 10th with $1.8 million.
