'Restrepo' director says finished with war

TORONTO, May 8 (UPI) -- Director Sebastian Junger told a crowd in Canada he might never return to a war zone following the death of collaborator Tim Hetherington in Libya.

Hetherington and Junger worked together on "Restrepo," an Oscar-nominated film about the war in Afghanistan, which was screened Saturday night at a benefit in Toronto.

Afterward, the Toronto Star said, Junger told the audience the death of his partner last month "took the wind out of my sails."

When asked if he would head into another hot spot some day, Junger replied, "I don't think so."

"I'm 49 and I've made my peace with almost getting killed," Junger said. "What I didn't realize, and what I've now experienced, is losing someone close to me."

Junger said he received letters of condolence from veterans after Hetherington's death that also lamented the shock of losing a close friend in battle.
