SAG Awards: America Ferrera, Danai Gurira to announce nominees

Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Actresses America Ferrera and Danai Gurira will announce the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards nominees.

SAG-AFTRA, or the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, announced Wednesday on Twitter that Ferrera, 35, and Gurira, 41, will present the nominations Dec. 11.

"NEXT WEEK on Dec. 11, @AmericaFerrera and @DanaiGurira will announce the 26th #sagawards nominees!" the post reads.

Ferrera and Gurira will make the announcement at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. The nominations will air live at 7 p.m. PT on TNT, TBS and truTV, and stream at tntdrama.com/sag-awards, truTV.com and sagawards.org.

SAG Awards committee chair JoBeth Williams and committee member Elizabeth McLaughlin will begin by announcing the stunt ensemble honors nominees at 6:50 a.m. during a live broadcast on sagawards.tntdrama.com and sagawards.org.

The 2020 SAG Awards will take place Jan. 19 in Los Angeles. Actor Robert De Niro will be honored with a life achievement award.

Ferrera is known for starring in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and the ABC series Ugly Betty. She plays Amy Sosa on the NBC series Superstore, which premiered a fifth season in September.

Gurira plays Michonne on the AMC series The Walking Dead, which premiered a 10th season in October. She also portrays Okoye in Black Panther and other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
