Deadline said Parker will play Bella Baird, a Yale professor and novelist diagnosed with cancer. Will Hochman will make his Broadway debut as Bella's student Christopher.

Parker and Hochman previously portrayed Bella and Christopher in a Williamstown Theatre Festival performance of The Sound Inside. The original staging was well-received by critics.

The Sound Inside will begin performances Sept. 14 at Studio 54 and officially open on Oct. 17. The play is directed by David Cromer and produced by Jeffrey Richards, Lincoln Center Theater and Rebecca Gold.

Parker's Broadway credits include Prelude to a Kiss, Proof and Heisenberg. She played Amy Gardner on The West Wing and Nancy Botwin on Weeds.
