Jessica Simpson shows off son Ace's short new hair

Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Jessica Simpson is giving fans a glimpse of her son's short new hair.

The 38-year-old singer and designer said in an Instagram post Wednesday that she was feeling a little heartbroken after chopping off 5-year-old Ace's chin-length hair.

Simpson shared a black and white photo of Ace wearing a hairdresser's cape. The 5-year-old sports close-cropped sides with longer hair on top.

"He really wanted short hair. It broke my heart a little, but we did it!! My little man #ACEKNUTE," Simpson captioned the post.

Ace had chin-length hair during Simpson's snow day celebration with family and friends this month. He sported shorter locks during a family outing Monday on Christmas Eve.

"Church ready #THEJOHNSONS," Simpson captioned a picture with Ace, husband Eric Johnson and 6-year-old daughter Maxwell.

Simpson announced in September she is expecting her third child, a baby girl, with Johnson.

"This little baby girl will make us a family of five," the star told fans. "We couldn't be happier to announce this precious blessing of life."
