Kratos, the star of the previous entries in the God of War series, is seen in the trailer teaching his son about restraint in battle as they travel across sweeping vistas as they fight to survive against a number of mythological enemies.

"From Santa Monica Studio and creative director Cory Barlog comes a new beginning for one of gaming's most recognizable icons," reads the synopsis.

"Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest," it continues.

Barlog, director of the game, detailed the title's various special editions that will be available for purchase on the Playstation Blog.

The digital deluxe edition of God of War at $69.99 includes digital art books, a digital comic, a dynamic theme and in-game items while a Collector's Edition at $130 includes a 9-inch statue of Kratos and Atreus, a cloth map and a SteelBook case.
